Little
Andaman, is located at the southern most end of the Andaman and
Nicobar island. It is situated opposite to the great Andaman Island
and is one of the most stunning attractions of Andaman tourism, which
is yet to be explored fully by the tourists. Little Andaman has got
the status of being the 4th largest island in archipelago.
Duncan passage separates Little Andaman from Ruthland bay of the
Great Andaman. The island is still recovering from that damage caused
by Tsunami in the year 2004.
Little
Andaman constitutes of a very evergreen biodiversity, which is formed
by the evergreen rain forest present in the area. The two attractive
waterfall of the Little Andaman are White surf which is located 6.5
kms from Hut Bay jetty and the second waterfall is the Whisper Wave,
which is 20 kms from Hut bay jetty. This area also includes trekking
region through the rain forest, which is spread over 4 kms. There is
a facility for Elephant safari on the way to the waterfall.
Little
Andaman is famous for red oil palm plantation and a large area of the
island is dedicated towards this reason. The most famous beach in
Little Andaman is the Butler bay beach, which is at a distance of 14
kms from Hut bay Jetty. The island involves in different types of
sports activities like snorkeling, diving, swimming, game fishing,
coral watching, sun basing, etc. while boating at the butler bay,
tourists can have a chance to watch rare species of birds like
Hawabilll and Nicobarese pigeon. You can also get the chance of
getting a glimpse of some of the rare marine turtle at Butler Bay.
The other well known beach includes Netaji Nagar beach and Harminder
bay beach. These islands have not been touched by the human
civilization and there are scopes to develop these islands and make
it as one of the most attractive tourist attraction of Andaman and
Nicobar Island.
Little
Andaman is located 210 kms to the south of the capital city of Port
Blair and you will have to travel for 7 to 9 hours to reach the
place. This beautiful land of Andaman is yet to be discovered by the
tourist. Attempts are in progress to present this natural land full
of scenic beauty to the people and give Andaman Island a further
boost.
